It was the prettiest goldfish

That could ever be.

We put in a round glass bowl,

And bought some companions.

For the prettiest goldfish I ever knew.

It swam around in circles.

Brought prosperity home

If the Chinese are to be believed.

It brought me knowledge

That is for sure.

As I looked at the fish swimming.

In water as its life support

And the very medium of its existence.

The pretty little fish had no idea what

Water was to her.

Knew that she would perish outside.

But it could not see its medium,

The water, as I could.

It was in it and yet unaware.

Now I know I exist but also unaware.

What is around me and my actual

Life support.

Neither do you.

In the end, it turned out

That you and me are 

No different from the

Pretty Little Goldfish.

It’s a simple yellow candle.

Translucent to see

And smells heavenly.

But in so many ways it is like me.

Burning away and looking so pretty

Self obsessed with my own decay

I disappear with the flame.

All will come and see

But there is no body who can help

For my home lies away beyond.

Beyond Human Reach.

I cant deny that I was a part.

Of the sham world we all created.

In the hopes of the million dollar life.

To make others turn their heads and

Repent all unkind things they did.

Lie after lie, we built a life.

A world of our own.

A castle not to live in but just to show.

That we are better.

Chasing these hollow dreams and all

Those wasted hours,

It was bound to happen.

Sooner than later.

We could not recognize our faces

Anymore.

All that was left in the mirror was a reflection

Of what others thought we were.

It was as if we ceased to exist.

With nowhere to run,

We had to turn to each other

And rip to pieces everything

We ever cared for.

From the lies we had for others,

We could never tell each other

The truth.

Hiding behind of what we thought

The other wanted to hear instead.

Frustration had to come up and

Too proud to admit our mistakes.

We took the high road and killed

Ourselves and each other.

Using the same lies, we shred to

Pieces the image so carefully portrayed.

I believe you betrayed me and

You believe I was Judas.

Sometimes I think I was better off

In the fields of my childhood.

Away from deception. From you.

From the missing pieces inside me.

Alas, as in all stories.

She was just a wee bit vain

And a tad overconfident.

Manipulating at will,

Friends with every foe.

A dangerous match for anyone

Who might cross her.

Was good and was bad.

Managed all thoughts and

Constructed a carefully thought

Of façade.

Of some sugar and some spice.

Everyone fell for it as there was

No flaw in the plan.

But in the end.

She forgot who she was.

Now she roams the scene with

Confidence

But totally lost inside.

You fooled me once.

But you are the one not sleeping at night.

I lost and felt worthless for a day or two.

Pieces by pieces I was put together.

By help of the loved ones and

Sheer will.

Beyond your influence, I see your game.

Very smart, I must say.

But you ended up being so fake

That even the one supporting now

Doesn’t really know what is, in fact, wrong.

With all the consolation and help,

Only your words seem to heal.

Your spirit is just as broken as before

And you have no where to go.

White water roars,

Dark skies shadow,

Dust and wind meet

To create a scary storm.

Wait and see.

The revenge of our sweet mother nature

Will soon be complete.

She will breach all embankments

And break all dams.

There will be droughts and

Floods everywhere.

The polar ice will melt

And submerge our cities.

The air will thicken and

It will be hard to breathe.

With ozone out of the way,

Nothing will protect us

Anymore from the extremely

dangerous UV rays.

Earth will turn brittle

and hard.

It will refuse to nourish

Anything that a man can have.

We all be hungry as nothing

Will grow and the land will

Be completely dry.

She will forgive if you only

Listen and participate

And act a little bit green.

Heed to the warning of our

Sweet mother nature.

Before we all have to seek

asylum elsewhere.

I am a part of your subsistence.

I flow, sometimes slow

And sometimes harsh.

I bend around obstacles

And seek to cause no pain.

But you block my ways

And create disharmony.

Thus, sometimes I rage.

To teach you a lesson.

Wake up, man, wake!

Respect nature and then create

So that all may see a better day.

Alas! I try and try

But you being man are vain

And never learn your lesson.

Nice fat drops fell from the sky.

All the children ran out.

Splashing the puddles and

Sailing paper boats.

We all had fun with

The dark dark clouds and

The big fat drops.

Then suddenly mummy

Calls us back.

After a bath and some warm milk,

We are all too tired to protest

And are quickly tucked in.

It’s a tiny little hand.

With pink creases and little nails at the tips.

I have held and then realized my place in the World.

I was to give care that I promised and

Find God’s grace along the way.

When you slept, I was there.

So that you may hold on to my finger.

I know that it made you feel safe and secure.

More importantly, it told you that you were loved.

When you were learning how to walk,

I was still close by.

Understanding that you may want to hold on,

Or have somebody to bank on.

After all, I was all you knew and

The height was new.

I held your tiny hand and

Taught you how to draw.

With your heart finally guiding your fingers

With the brightly colored crayons,

I moved away a bit.

So that you may paint your own landscape.

Even though you are grown up now,

You still like to hold hands.

Soft and smooth compared to mine.

It still makes you feel protected.

Or maybe you finally realized that

Even I like to be held.
